We have recently had a few oppurtunities to teach our children about kindness and respect for animals. Atilla made friends with a massive snail in our garden over the weekend, which kept him occupied for over an hour and taught him so much. Normally he would just jump on them and crush them but l think we've finally put an end to that. This little fellow engaged him so much and he was able to establish that even a snail deserves some sort of respect and has a place in nature. He talked to the snail, helped it find it's friends, fed it some lettuce, picked it up, observed and watched and left it alone in the end. Small. l know, but huge step for man...

Lale on the other hand was shrieking with joy when she met her first bunny rabbit at the local farm. So we decided to let her hold one. I nearly died when she tried to nibble on it's ears.
